About CRAICCHS:

Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (CRAICCHS) is a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation.

CRAICCHS objective is to provide access to holistic and client-centred quality primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the South Burnett regions.

Key Duties:

The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include:

  • Provide a range of clinical, preventative, rehabilitative and promotional health functions under direction.
  • Assist with the provision of standard medical treatments.
  • Provide cultural brokerage, advocacy, referrals, advice, information and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander patients within the level of qualification held.
  • Assist as the first point of contact with the delivery of health assessments and annual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander 715 Health Checks.
  • Support routine clinical procedures while applying principles and practices of infection prevention and control.
  • Administer a range low complexity vaccines as approved and under supervision.
  • Collect and record client data and maintain patient health registers.
  • Follow up and arrange appointments for identified high risk patients.
  • Undertake all required education and training programmes.
  • Perform other duties identified by the Clinic Services Coordinator that are within the scope of practice and qualifications held.
  • Uphold privacy and confidentiality procedures and regulations.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • A minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care with the willingness to progress toward the completion of a Cert IV.
  • Identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Primary health care knowledge and skills with the capacity to perform clinical, health education and administrative tasks.
  • A strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and community dynamics to effectively engage with patients and provide culturally safe care.
  • Computer competence with MS Office and patient medical record systems familiarity.
  • The ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage and communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and those with diverse characteristics and life experiences.
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries and knowledge of confidentiality, ethics and duty of care.
  • The willingness to learn and complete ongoing professional development and on the job training.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to quickly acquire.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certs or the willingness to obtain.
  • Current driver licence
  • Documentary evidence to verify either vaccination against or are not susceptible to any of the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases: Hepatitis B; Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR); Varicella (chickenpox) and Pertussis (whooping cough).
