Promote individual and community wellbeing and reduce harmful substance use through the provision of culturally appropriate and safe AOD prevention, education, case management, treatment, support and aftercare services for Indigenous Australians.

About CRAICCHS:

Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (CRAICCHS) is a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation.

CRAICCHS objective is to provide access to holistic and client-centred quality primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the South Burnett regions.

Key Duties:

The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include:

  • Promote community wellbeing and reduce harmful substance use through culturally appropriate education, information and support.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop recovery care plans that address health, social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Provide trauma-informed counselling to assist clients with complex trauma histories.
  • Work within a case management framework to monitor the progress of facilitated and coordinated communication between clients, health professionals, service provides and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate client records within CRAICCHS system and complete all reporting activities.
  • Uphold privacy and confidentiality procedures and regulations.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Completed qualifications, or the willingness to complete qualifications, such as Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or other relevant qualifications.
  • Relevant professional association membership or the ability to obtain.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and delivering appropriate AODS services.
  • An understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their health.
  • The ability to show empathy, open-mindedness and compassion.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to plan, organise and set priorities to achieve identified objectives.
  • Competent computer skills for researching, recording and reporting.
  • The ability to self-manage while working effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • The willingness to learn and complete ongoing professional development and on-the-job training.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to quickly acquire.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certs or the willingness to obtain.
  • Current driver licence.
