Lead and coordinate the delivery of culturally safe and trauma-informed programmes to support youth and families involved in, or at risk of involvement in, the youth justice system.

The Benefits:

  • A pay range between $53.45 to $58.37 per hour depending on qualifications and skills – SCHADS Award Level 5.1 to 6.1.

About Cherbourg Wellbeing Indigenous Corporation – CWIC:

CWIC is a community-led organisation committed to improving the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The focus is the interaction of children, youth and adults with the justice system through the strengthening of families, the building of community capacity and the delivery of culturally safe programmes to promote positive outcomes.

Key Duties:

The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include:

  • Develop and coordinate innovative programmes that address community needs.
  • Supervise, mentor and roster Support Workers.
  • Participate in staff onboarding, development and performance management.
  • Oversee the implementation of individual support plans for youth to ensure holistic, culturally responsive and strengths-based interventions.
  • Establish and foster working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including attendance at scheduled meetings.
  • Build and maintain a strong connection with the Cherbourg community and promote the available support services and programmes.
  • Support initiatives including Youth Justice programs to prevent youth offending.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes and programme data.
  • Prepare management, Board and funding body reports.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, especially young people and families.
  • Experience coordinating community, youth, wellbeing, justice or family support programmes.
  • The proven ability to supervise, support and coordinate staff.
  • A sound understanding of Youth Justice systems, processes, trauma-informed practice and culturally safe service delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership skills.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills including report writing and compilation of applicant data.
  • Current C Class Qld Driver licence
  • Current Qld Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to rapidly acquire).
  • National Criminal History Check or the ability to obtain.

Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants are also able to provide any of the following:

  • Qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, Human Services or other similar fields.
  • Experience in case management.
  • Connection to, or an understanding of, the Cherbourg community.
