Provide part-time administrative and organisational support to the Board of Directors to ensure effective operations and compliance with governance and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong communication between the Board, management and stakeholders within the context of respect for the cultural values and traditions of the Cherbourg community.

About Cherbourg Wellbeing Indigenous Corporation – CWIC:

CWIC is a 100% community-controlled organisation committed to advancing social justice and empowering our people to keep a healthy mind, body and spirit.

CWIC is governed by a Board of Directors, incorporated under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 and operates within this regulatory framework in conjunction with the CWIC rule book.

Key Duties:

The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include:

  • Prepare and distribute Board and committee meeting agendas, minutes and communications with supporting documents.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Board activities including meeting schedules, decisions, action items and CWIC Member register.
  • Organise and manage the governance calendar to ensure all key deadlines are met.
  • Support the onboarding and induction of new Board members to ensure familiarity with their roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist with legislation compliance which will include the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act) and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) requirements.
  • Maintain and update governance documents including the organisations rule book, policies and procedures.
  • Support the preparation of and lodgement of statutory requirements such as annual reports and changes to Board membership.
  • Identify governance training and professional development opportunities for Board members.
  • Coordinate Board and committee meetings including venue, catering and technology requirements.
  • Attend Board meetings, including after hours or weekend meetings / training if required, to provide administrative support, minute taking and action registering.
  • Follow-up action items and decisions to ensure timely implementation and reporting.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, regulators and funding bodies on behalf of the Board.
  • Support community engagement events.
  • Work collaboratively with Elders, community leaders and stakeholders to strengthen CWIC’s connection to the community.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a culturally appropriate manner with respect for the traditions and values of the Cherbourg community.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven strong administration experience.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven software and technology skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Knowledge of the Cherbourg community and its unique needs.
  • Respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with the ability to work n a culturally safe and inclusive manner.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Board members, management and community stakeholders.
  • A high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • A knowledge of funding and reporting requirements for community organisations.
  • The ability to attend meetings and functions outside of normal business hours or on weekends if required.
  • Current C Class Qld Driver licence
  • Current Qld Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to rapidly acquire).
  • National Criminal History Check or the ability to obtain.

Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants are also able to provide and of the following:

  • Qualifications / Certificates in Business, Governance, Finance or other related fields.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
