The Opportunity:
Focus your skills on leadership, motivation and sports development for the local community by joining the team at the Sports & Recreation Centre in Cherbourg.
The role will include building a diverse range of programmes and activities and overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of those programmes to drive growth in community participation and use of the Centre.

What You Will Need:
- Cert IV in Sports Administration, Recreation or Fitness as a minimum or similar qualifications in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
- Sports Centre experience.
- Proven people, task, and time management skills.
- Well developed office administration and computer skills.
- Flexibility with rostered work hours to accommodate evening and weekend commitments as needed.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and risk management principles.
- A current Working with Children Blue Card or the ability to quickly acquire.
- A current First Aid Accreditation or the ability to quickly acquire.
- A current driver licence.
What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Community Services Manager, the duties will be diverse and include:
- Develop and promote a range of suitable Centre activities and programmes to maximise facility use.
- Manage and coordinate bookings and resources for facility use.
- Supervise, support, train and prepare rosters for up to 6 staff.
- Maintain community connections to ensure the Centre’s relevance to all community members.
- Allocate and manage Centre funding.
- Undertake cost analysis and assist with budget preparation.
- Accurately prepare reports, statistics, financial summaries, submissions and proposals.
- Identify and develop external funding opportunities

The Sports and Recreation Centre come under the umbrella of the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council.
With Cherbourg’s unique history going back to the late 1890’s, the first Cherbourg Community Council was elected in 1966 before taking over local management of the Community from the State in 1986.
The Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council is the most Southern of the Aboriginal Local Government Areas in Queensland.
